I suggest spending the day doing tide pools at the south end and beach time at higher tide. The tide pools are south of the most photographed sandy beach at Jolla Cove. A GoPro captures more action than any other type of camera. My son loved using his GoPro to capture the tide pools with the waves crashing in! I plan to purchase a higher quality tide pool for our next adventure after seeing what his could do on this trip. It’s something to look forward to next time! We unfortunately didn’t have time during low tide to make it to these areas on this trip. Further down to toward La Jolla Beach, there are sea lions and seals at both ends of the rocky ends of the cover and at Children’s Pool area. If you notice below, there is a small sandy beach for kids to play in the sand a little as well although for a larger sandy beach, you’ll have to go further north on La Jolla Cove.Īt La Jolla tide pools, you can expect to see crabs, sea anemones, sea stars, and maybe even an octopus. Find out when low tide is and plan accordingly. While we were there, low tides were at 4am and 3pm, so we could only visit in the afternoon. The East Coast has just one high and one low tide per day, the West Coast has two high and two low tides per day. To check out the tide pools in San Diego, or anywhere in California, you’ll need to be deliberate in timing. This beach is full of rocky formations and stunning views too. We were in our element at the tide pools – this might be a Christmas card photo, what do you think? The most extensive network of tidepools in San Diego County are at Point Loma. There was always a way across the expanse but these expanses offered a glimpse of even more excitement than the smaller tide pools as the waves continued to push water far up into the openings. I loved the variation in the rock formations at La Jolla tide pools. What a fantastic place for photos too! Although I captured my kids having fun at the tide pools and I couldn’t resist snapping some posed photos as well! I might hang this one up! My daughter loved the tide pools and exploring too although she’s not one to stick her hand in the water to pick up crabs or sea anemones. This is the stuff that makes up childhood memories for life. Nothing is better than seeing your kids have fun exploring nature, whether it is at the tide pools in San Diego or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio or their own backyard. We could spend hours exploring the tide pools, finding new creatures! We found amazing tide pools in Cambria, CA which is north of San Diego on our last trip. This spot has several public entrances along Coast Blvd with public parking along the side of the road.īesides Death Valley, tide pools was the only thing my son wanted to do on this vacation. One of the best places for tide pools is just a bit north of San Diego in La Jolla Village at the north end of La Jolla Cove. If your family is visiting California, I urge you to plan time to get your kids out in nature for this extraordinary, FREE experience. You can’t find tide pools on the East Coast like you can the West Coast, so this is an extra special time of exploring for my family when we travel to California. San Diego is an amazing location to see tide pools.

“ My Best Friend’s Girl” begins with penetrating guitar, hand claps, and vocals, but then plunges into friendly pop and gang’s-all-here backup singing. His vocals on the album’s other singles retain that weird cool, but they add emotions we can detect, even feel. Rock and roll is all about good times, but the Cars aren’t going to just lob them at us: instead, Ocasek invokes them for us to engage in, then leans back to watch what we do, like some kind of good-times fetishist. Whereas the beloved 1956 Shirley and Lee song “Let the Good Times Roll” feels like a party-an instant get-on-the-dance-floor-the Cars are doing something stranger. Ocasek commands us to let the good times roll, knock us around, make us a clown, leave us up in the air-but it doesn’t sound as if he’s going to do these things. (I’m not sure I’ve ever listened to FM radio in my home town without hearing one of its songs in a rock block.) The album’s first track, “Good Times Roll,” is a strangely dispassionate call to revelry: mid-tempo, instructing, cool, hovering aloof above the notion of good times. The Cars released their self-titled début in 1978 it was an instant classic. As a singer and a presence, Ocasek both channelled powerful emotion and seemed to float above it, as mysteriously as the ever-present sunglasses that obscured the look in his eyes. The Cars combined the pleasures of New Wave synth modernity with the pleasures of bar-band guitar rock, in a style made especially distinctive by Ocasek’s borderline eerie vocals and aesthetic: starkly bold attire, black shades, black hairdo with a hint of fright wig. “I don’t mind you comin’ here / and wastin’ all my time,” Orr sings, and a creepy, jolly synth invites us to wonder why. “Just What I Needed,” with vocals by Orr, got the band signed to Elektra. (He also produced albums by Bad Brains, Suicide, Weezer, and others.) Ocasek and his bandmate Benjamin Orr met in the sixties, in Ohio, and moved to Boston in the seventies, where they formed the Cars, with Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson, and soon earned a devoted following in bars like the Rathskeller. Ocasek, who died on Sunday, at seventy-five, wrote, sang, and played rhythm guitar on an amazing number of great songs with the Cars, the band he co-founded in 1976. You never questioned Ocasek’s competence and control-especially, one imagined, in a car. I also understood that Ocasek wouldn’t run me over. My alarm turned to delight: I’d marvelled at Ocasek’s mysterious pop magic all my life, and at Ocasek and Porizkova’s mysterious coupledom since the eighties. Paulina Porizkova, his wife and a supermodel of otherworldly beauty, was beside him. I looked up at the car to see Ric Ocasek behind its wheel. One evening in late-nineties Boston, enjoying a little after-work jaywalking between idling cars, I noticed, with a jolt, an S.U.V. And while I’m counting my good fortunes, I’d like to thank our benevolent God that Lange didn’t inundate the market with remixes of this material, since a six-minute version of “You Might Think” would be a mite much, methinks. In fact, one of the things I admire about AC/DC is that their music had a stronger personality than Lange’s production Foreigner and The Cars weren’t so fortunate. Both songs suggest Beatitude with better production.įor the record, I do believe that Mutt Lange is a genius, just more in the evil genius camp. When the UK later released “You Might Think” as a single, “I Refuse” was the flip choice. In the UK, the downbeat “Why Can’t I Have You” was selected as the first single both featured “Heartbeat City” on the B side. But Lange fussed over every detail and filtered every sound until the song’s simple chord changes pummel you instead of tension/release, it’s a sensory overload. With fewer layers and a herky-jerky delivery, it might have been another minor hit from the band. The thing is, “You Might Think” isn’t a bad song. These findings offer a new approach to national air pollution assessments and are intended to help focus research and planning initiatives related to air pollution and forest health.īennett, J. The multivariate analysis showed that the oak-hickory and loblolly-shortleaf pine forest types were generally exposed to more air pollution than other forest types, and the redwood, western white pine, and larch forest types were generally exposed to less. Ozone-induced foliar injury to sensitive species was recorded in all regions except for the Rocky Mountain region. Both the South and Rocky Mountain RPA regions had an increasing trend in ozone exposure. Ozone concentrations were highest in portions of the Pacific Coast RPA region and relatively high across much of the South RPA region. The North and South RPA regions experienced the highest ammonium deposition rates and showed slightly decreasing trends. Nitrate deposition rates were relatively constant for the 1994 to 2000 period, but the South RPA region had a statistically decreasing trend. Estimates of sulfate deposition for forested areas had decreasing trends (1994–2000) across RPA regions that were statistically significant for North and South RPA regions. Results are reported by Resource Planning Act (RPA) reporting region and integrated by forest type using multivariate clustering. We examine trends and the percent forest subjected to specific levels of ozone and wet deposition of sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium. Here we present the major findings from a national scale air pollution assessment that is part of the United States' 2003 Report on Sustainable Forests. Air pollutants pose a risk to forest health and vitality in the UnitedStates. Since food above the water is generally better, you can use your Boost to propel yourself high above the surface in order to grab a lot of items. Once you grow to the right size, you can go find that predator and gobble him up.Īnother use for the Boost is to help you get a lot of food from the surface. Don’t worry about the predator chasing you afterwards because you just need to survive long enough to become bigger than him. You will be able to run away from them most of the time but if you ever get caught off guard, you can use the Boost as a last resort in order to escape. This is useful for running away from predators. Use The Boost StrategicallyĪs the name suggests, Boost will give you a boost in speed while going in a certain direction. Try to eat items above the surface as much as you can because they help you grow more compared to the usual stuff you find underwater. You can eat birds, boats, trees, and houses. After reaching a certain size, you will be able to jump out of the water and gobble up the things you encounter. Once you are big enough, however, the real fun begins. When you are still small, you will be confined to eating small items underwater. If you run out of food in a certain area, just move on to the next and everything will regenerate by the time you get back. Once you grow a bit, you should start looking for items sitting at the bottom of the ocean such as bottles and starfish. For example, when you start the game in the first map, the ideal food for you is shrimp. You won’t be able to eat everything right away so you need to know where to go to get the food that is right for your size. There are several locations in the game and you should learn the nooks and crannies of each one if you want to succeed in this game. Instead of wasting time chasing the big fish, you can settle for multiple small targets just so you can keep eating. The problem is, sometimes catching a big target can be difficult. If you had a choice between a smaller fish and a bigger one, you should always pick the latter because it will help you grow faster. As a rule, you want your character to continuously munch, regardless of size. Do you go after big targets or a lot of small ones? The answer depends on the situation. Of course, there are a few things you need to consider since there are a lot of options out there. The goal of the game is to keep growing and the only way to do that is to keep eating. Read our Tasty Blue tips and tricks if you need help! 1. Regardless of the character you choose, you will need to quickly maneuver both under and above the water in order to keep growing. He was initially created to save the ocean but he ends up consuming everything in his path. The last character is a genetically modified shark. He eventually frees himself from the aquarium but not before taking revenge on his cruel trainer. The second is a dolphin who has been forced to jump through hoops to get food. After developing a monstrous appetite, he has decided to escape to the ocean so he can literally catch bigger fish. The first is a goldfish who has been overfed by his owner. There are three playable characters for you to choose from. This game is all about eating stuff and getting bigger. Tasty Blue is Dingo Games’ much-anticipated sequel to Tasty Planet, which is out now on Android and iOS platforms. The Supporting Information is available free of charge at. The proposed strategy is easy for large-scale industrial applications, which will greatly expand the application scenarios of the LISM field. Furthermore, the Au layer further enhanced the conductivity of the circuit. The resistances of these metal layers had much better stability than that of the neat Cu layer. Besides, the micro-rough structures caused by the laser on the polymer surface provided riveting points for successfully depositing the copper layer. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that a part of Mo 6+ was reduced to Mo 5+ during laser activations, leading to the increase of the oxygen vacancies in MoO 3 and possibly further enhancing the activity of MoO 3. h-MoO 3 was higher than that of α-MoO 3.X-ray diffraction and tube experiments revealed that the activity of α The effect of laser activation was only to expose the MoO 3 active species to the polymer surface. 1336 PLUS drives are suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering up to a maximum of 200,000 rms symmetrical amperes. We also confirmed the mechanism of MoO 3 initiating electroless copper plating after laser activation to be the autocatalytic mechanism, which is very different from the conventional reduction mechanism. The limit width of the copper wire prepared by the UV laser is as narrow as 30.1 μm. Scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, and resistance analysis revealed the excellent LISM performance of the polymer/MoO 3 composites, and the quality of the Cu layer prepared using the UV laser is much better than that using the NIR laser. The name Cryolophosaurus ellioti is derived from the Greek words κρυος (meaning 'cold' or 'frozen', in reference to its discovery in Antarctica), λοφος (meaning 'crest') and σαυρος (meaning 'lizard'), thus "cold crest lizard". A second locality was discovered about 30 metres (98 ft) higher in the section on Mt. ĭuring the 2003 season, a field team returned and collected more material from the original site. The specimens were formally named and described in 1994 by Hammer and Hickerson, in the journal Science. The team recovered over 100 fossil bones, including those of Cryolophosaurus. Over the next three weeks, Hammer excavated 2,300 kg (5,100 lb) of fossil-bearing rock. When the discovery was made, they soon notified Hammer. Elliot's team first came across the remains of Cryolophosaurus in a rock formation around the altitude of 4,000 m (13,000 ft) high and about 640 km (400 mi) from the South Pole. In 1991, both Hammer and the Ohio State University geologist David Elliot excavated separate outcrops near Beardmore Glacier, sharing logistical expenses. Reconstructed skeleton, Ohio State University The sediments in which its fossils were found have been dated at ~194 to 188 million years ago, representing the Early Jurassic Period. It was the first carnivorous dinosaur to be discovered in Antarctica and the first non-avian dinosaur from the continent to be officially named. The brain of Cryolophosaurus was also more primitive than those of other theropods.Ĭryolophosaurus was first excavated from Antarctica's Early Jurassic, Pliensbachian aged Hanson Formation, formerly the upper Falla Formation, by paleontologist Dr. Based on evidence from related species and studies of bone texture, it is thought that this bizarre crest was used for intra-species recognition. Cryolophosaurus is currently considered to be a derived neotheropod, close to Averostra.Ĭryolophosaurus possessed a distinctive " pompadour" crest that spanned the head from side to side. The femur possesses many primitive characteristics that have classified Cryolophosaurus as a dilophosaurid or a neotheropod outside of Dilophosauridae and Averostra, whereas the skull has many advanced features, leading the genus to be considered a tetanuran, an abelisaurid, a ceratosaur and even an allosaurid. Cryolophosaurus is known from a skull, a femur and other material, the skull and femur of which have caused its classification to vary greatly. Individuals of this species may have grown even larger, because the only known specimen probably represents a sub-adult. It was about 6.5 metres (21.3 ft) long and 465 kilograms (1,025 lb) in weight, making it one of the largest theropods of its time. In some cases, due to disk errors on the source, copying can be hindered to the point where getting a perfect 100% is not possible because of the huge slowdown in read rate caused by errors then the goal becomes transferring as much of the source data to the destination as possible within a certain time period. The goal is to transfer all the data from the source to the destination, making a perfect one-to-one copy where it is possible. Cloning is normally not required in order to scan and recover files with this tool for Mac. This will free the hard drive from use while preserving the data that was on it for later scanning. The purpose of the tool's cloning function is to copy a hard drive or volume to another hard drive or volume, so that the copy may be scanned, reducing the wear-and-tear on the original hard drive. Scan the whole hard drive for any file patterns to rebuild the raw data of any recognized files. Detects existing directory structures on the hard drive. The Deep Scan is a two part scan method: 1. The Deep Scan is a comprehensive data recovery scan method that provides the most results possible. The results of the Deleted Files Scan will be provided with generic filenames and organized by category in the Reconstructed Files folder. Instead, Data Rescue® will rebuild any files that it detects based on its file patterns. Data Rescue® will not be able to detect the original information of that file in the directory structure. Once files are deleted through the Operating System, there is no more reference to their original directory structure, filename, or date created/modified. By scanning only the free space it allows the Deleted Files Scan to specifically detect any files that were deleted. If you have selected the hard drive to be scanned, the Quick Scan will attempt to search for the first available volume on the hard drive, then rebuild the directory structure for that volume.ĭeleted Files Scan utilizes the unused free of a volume for any files based on file patterns. A Quick Scan can only be used on a volume. It is recommended to try this scan method first if your volume is detected on the hard drive. This scan will detect files with their original folder hierarchies and file names. The Quick Scan is the fastest method that detects existing directory structures even if your hard drive does not mount.
